New York Apartment

I really like this as a sunset picture even though there is hardly any sky visible. I think the lit windows above the stairs give it a comfortable, home feeling.

Marshmallow Farm

This picture reminds me of something that I would have seen in a storybook when I was a kid. The hay bales look a bit like marshmallows to me.

This watercolor shows the view from my grandparents driveway. The barn is gone now, but I have a lot of good memories of this place.

Morning in Charleston

I always like bright summer mornings. Perhaps they remind me of those lazy summer days when I was a boy going fishing. I really enjoyed painting this picture trying to create that morning feel.

Ontario Sunrise

This picture is based on a street in the town of Durham in southern Ontario. Even though I prefer warmer weather, I love painting these winter scenes. They are full of nostalgia.

The Thaw

In this painting, the warm, bright windows of the house contrast with the cold damp weather outside.

The Snowball Fight

This picture brings to mind those winter evenings where the silence can almost be felt. However, here the silence is broken by the children playing close to the house where mom has hot chocolate waiting.

Evening Calm

Pictured here is a pleasant evening. The rain passed through earlier, and the last lingering clouds glow in the setting sun.

Summer Light

I was walking through a town in southwestern Pennsylvania, looking for subject matter for paintings, when I came across this house. The sunlight finding its way through the trees in the front yard creates wonderful shadows.

There is something about dirt roads and afternoon shadows that I find relaxing. I was able to combine the two in this painting.

Nubble Lighthouse

This is Nubble Lighthouse in Maine. Lighthouses are a wonderful subject to paint. They stand as resolute beacons, facing whatever comes.

Rustic View

This old, restored log cabin is located in Beaver, Pennsylvania. I took a little artistic license with the scenery; painting the area as I imagined it might have looked around two hundred years ago.

Shadow of the Cross

This is obviously a departure from what I normally paint. I enjoyed the challenge of a new form. This painting represents something far more profound than the other paintings I have displayed here. The shadow of the cross in the painting represents the reason why the Lord Jesus Christ was born. He came to die and shed His blood for the sins of all mankind. "For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly." (Romans 5:6) Because His payment was complete, death could not hold Him. "Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification." (Romans 4:25) "But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:" (Romans 3: 21-24)
